The Problem

Life expectancy in the United States has surged in recent decades to a remarkable 79 years in 2022. Yet, as the elderly experience longer life spans, they suffer increased care-related needs. AidLink has been a lifesaver for me! I'm not as mobile as I used to be, and finding someone to help with grocery shopping and light chores was a struggle. This app connected me with wonderful volunteers. It's like having a friend who genuinely cares. So grateful for this service!

We introduce AidLink, a mobile and web app that connects college students with local disabled and elderly individuals, offering assistance for non-medical needs and fostering a network for well-being. Through AidLink, we bridge the generational and non-medical care gap to create a platform of compassion and support that transcends age and ability.

My name is Aiyan Alam. I am the Software Development Officer at AidLink. Growing up, I have dealt with many different people that had different conditions, most recently with my grandfather. Ever since then, I’ve had a passion for helping others, whether it is with everyday functions or with technology. I’ve had opportunities to help many seniors understand how to use smartphones and computers, and I’ve seen many of the troubles that any elderly or disabled person can go through. I want to create the technology for those who need it, and I hope to do that with my role. I can’t wait to help AidLink expand to help as many people as possible!
